Silhouettes of Stories represents the reintroduction of Evan AuCoin as a solo songwriter and original performer. After being in a promising original band in my early to mid 20s I shifted to more cover performance and corporate work as a musician in my late 20s and early 30s. Since committing to music full time, my writing has shifted from songs about things on the surface to deeper material and a more story driven focus. This album is an introduction to this new story driven direction as well as an insight into the topics and concepts I’ve dealt with, struggled with, or experienced in the past few years. Each of these seven songs draws inspiration from my life, my experiences, and the world around me. Some songs were inspired by my wife and the deep impact she’s had on my life, some are love letters to Newfoundland and its history, some discussion on my frustrations with the world around man, and even a glimpse into my love for gunslingers and the macabre. Ultimately, Silhouettes of Stories is a shift in my career and a maturation as a songwriter and as a person. This album means a great deal to me and this collection of songs has energized and inspired me. I am very proud of these songs and am happy to share them with the world.
